In this financial year Dŵr Anafon for the first time made grants available to the community of Llanfairfechan as well as Abergwyngregyn.
On 23rd October 2019 a meeting was held in Llanfairfechan with invitations being sent out to representatives of clubs and organisations. Information was provided on Dŵr Anafon and copies of the Guidelines and Application Forms were given out. Applications for grants were invited as from January 2020.
Applications from Llanfairfechan Bowling Club and Llanfairfechan Croquet Club were received and approved in March 2020, with payment of the sums requested to be made once receipted invoices were received by Dŵr Anafon.
Llanfairfechan Street Support was set up in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic to offer support to those in the community. Dŵr Anafon was pleased to be able to provide a grant of £500 at short notice to support the initiative.
In March 2019 the project Energy Saving Aber was launched in Abergwyngregyn, with the aim of improving the energy efficiency of homes in the village. Dŵr Anafon provided a grant of £1500 to pay Peter Draper of Rounded Developments, Cardiff, to carry out energy efficiency surveys of 7 homes and report back to the village at an open meeting. The surveys were done and Peter returned to Aber to do a presentation on 2nd August 2019. Sixteen of those who attended that meeting committed to assessing their own homes and attended a training day 24th August enabling them to gather survey information enabling Peter Draper to provide a report on their own home with recommendations.
In November 2019 Dŵr Anafon set a budget of £20,000 to enable those who had completed surveys to carry out some of the work recommended. Strict criteria were set for these grants.
By the end of the financial year £6633.78 had been allocated. The closing date for applying for a grant as part of this project was set as 31st October 2020.
A grant of £11,000 was made to build a lychgate to house the Abergwyngregyn War Memorial Tablet once it had been moved from St Bodfan’s Church, now privately owned. The memorial was re-dedicated at a service held 1st March 2020. A plaque was installed acknowledging the support of Dŵr Anafon in addition to that of Cadw, War Memorials Trust, Aber Falls Distillery, Welsh Water and members of the public.
Dŵr Anafon supported Tai Chi Classes in Aber with a grant over the financial year of £2047 with participants meeting rest of the cost.
A grant of £245 was provided for a Community Skip. One crisis grant of £500 was made following an accident.
